# Chiefs 30, Raiders 27: One Pundit Called the Exact Margin, Five Bet on the Upset and Lost

*Published 2026-10-05 — MissedTakes*

Kansas City beat Las Vegas 30-27 in Week 4, and we had 35 graded calls on the game once the final whistle blew — winner picks and exact-score predictions from 30 different pundits, one voice each once duplicates are collapsed to a pundit's latest call.

The room leaned hard toward the Chiefs and leaned correctly. Of the 30 pundits in the room, 25 took Kansas City and 5 took the Raiders. That's not a photo finish.

Worth a note on why the skill numbers on the simple winner picks run so high (several of the Chiefs-outright calls below graded out at a 183 or even a 200 skill score): the site's naive default for an outright pick is the home team, which here was Las Vegas. Vegas actually had Kansas City favored by 4.5, so picking the Chiefs was both the popular call in our room and the harder one to get credit for against that baseline — the 25 who took Kansas City beat the no-information default, not just the spread.

### The calls worth naming

Nobody in the room landed the winner-and-exact-score combination better than [Dan Parr](/pundits/dan-parr), who predicted "Kansas City Chiefs 27-24" — a 3-point Chiefs margin that matched the actual 30-27 final to the point: an actual margin of 3 against a predicted margin of 3, missed by exactly zero. That's the single sharpest call we tracked on this game.

A tight cluster sat just behind him. [Bobby Kownack](/pundits/bobby-kownack) (Chiefs 23-21) and [Chris Simms](/pundits/chris-simms) and [Gennaro Filice](/pundits/gennaro-filice) (both Chiefs 24-20) each missed the margin by one point. [Pete Prisco](/pundits/pete-prisco) (Chiefs 29-24) missed by two.

Some of the most confident language came well before kickoff. [Jordan Foote](/pundits/jordan-foote) wrote that he'd "roll with the Chiefs here in a one-score victory that sends folks into the bye week still not completely sold on the offense or defense" — exactly the game that played out. And two calls stretch back much further than game week: [Nick Wright](/pundits/nick-wright) picked the Chiefs to beat Las Vegas as part of a full-season, team-by-team AFC breakdown published September 2, and [Rich Eisen](/pundits/rich-eisen) predicted back on August 17 that the Raiders "are not gonna win a single one" of their October games, Kansas City included. Both calls graded at a skill score of 200 — the site's measure rewards calls made with that much more season left on the clock.

### The misses

Five pundits in our tracked room backed the Raiders outright, and all five were wrong. [Garrett Podell](/pundits/garrett-podell) went furthest out on the limb, writing that "the Raiders will upset Mahomes and the Chiefs to take sole possession of first place in the AFC West" and that Las Vegas would "shock the world." [Joshua Schulman](/pundits/joshua-schulman) picked Las Vegas "to hand Andy Reid's squad its first defeat of 2026," and [Steve Palazzolo](/pundits/steve-palazzolo) called for the Raiders to "cover and win four and oh." All three graded at zero accuracy.

Two others came closer on paper without getting the winner right. [Brooke Cersosimo](/pundits/brooke-cersosimo) (Raiders 26-24) and Seth Walder (Raiders 24-22) both had the final margin within striking distance — a 2-point Raiders margin against an actual 3-point Chiefs margin — but a game-outcome pick is graded on the winner first, so both still logged as misses.

### Whose streak this extends — or breaks

This was one swing in a much larger sample for a couple of these pundits. Nick Wright has 459 graded calls on the site across every prediction type we track, and his record on plain winner picks sits at 60.2% accuracy — solidly above a coin flip, not spectacular. This particular week was a good one for him: two correct Chiefs calls plus a 90-accuracy exact-score prediction (31-24, missed by 4) feeding off that same read.

Garrett Podell's miss, by contrast, fits a pattern rather than breaking one. Across his seven graded calls on the site, his winner picks specifically have landed at 16.7% accuracy on just four graded calls — this result didn't sink a hot hand, it extended a cold one, though the sample is thin enough that it's a lean, not a verdict. Joshua Schulman's miss drops him to 1-for-2 on graded winner picks, too small a sample to read into either way.

Dan Parr's exact-margin call is itself a small-sample story: his score-prediction record sits at 74.2% accuracy across 14 graded calls, with this one among his best.

### What else this touches

Kansas City's winner picks have now hit on every one of the 49 we've graded against the club this season, and its exact-score calls have averaged 88.3% accuracy. Las Vegas's winner picks are close behind at 89.3% across 28 graded calls, with score predictions averaging 71%. A result like this one — Chiefs favored, Chiefs covering the outright pick, Raiders backers losing the week — keeps that gap where it was rather than closing it.
