MissedTakes Passes Its 1,000th Approved Pundit

By Ben Garves

AUSTIN, Texas — October 1, 2026 — MissedTakes has passed its 1,000th approved pundit. As of today, the site has approved 1,006 people whose NFL predictions it tracks and grades against what actually happened.

An approved pundit, in MissedTakes' accounting, is a person — not a show, a network, or an unsigned house byline — whose predictions the site tracks and grades with a public record attached. Shows and networks are tracked in their own right, and their segments still get mined for calls, but they don't count toward this number; only a named person with an approved page does.

The count moved fast to get here. As of September 30, MissedTakes had approved 911 pundits; in the day since, it approved 95 more to cross 1,000. That is roughly the pace of the whole project: the site has now graded 10,681 individual predictions, drawn from 6,426 takes on the record pulled out of 6,952 articles, podcast episodes and broadcast segments — including 928 hours of transcribed audio — published by 260 outlets it tracks. Across all of that, the field's average accuracy sits at 61.8% over 13 completed seasons of grading.

Some of what's behind those numbers is the kind of call MissedTakes exists to catch. Chris Welsh drafted Christian McCaffrey as a round-seven value pick in August 2025 — "when the running backs fall off... I'm going to say Christian McCaffrey" — and McCaffrey finished the season as the No. 2 running back in fantasy, a call graded a perfect 100 for accuracy. On the leaderboard, Lance Zierlein currently sits at No. 1 overall, though with 43 graded takes his record is still a thin one by the site's own standard — a reminder that MissedTakes posts sample size next to every score for a reason.

"A thousand approved pundits means a thousand people with an actual paper trail now, not just a reputation," said Ben Garves, founder of The GoodApps Company. "The point was never to rank everyone — it's that readers can go look up any one of them and see exactly what they called and how it turned out."

About MissedTakes

MissedTakes (missedtakes.co) grades sports pundits' predictions against what actually happened. It tracks published takes from articles, podcasts and broadcasts, turns each into a checkable call, scores it under a published methodology once the results are in, and ranks pundits and outlets by accuracy with the sample size always shown beside the score. It is built and paid for by The GoodApps Company in Austin, Texas, carries no advertising, and its scoring methodology is public.
