MissedTakes Passes Its 250th Outlet Tracked

By Ben Garves

AUSTIN, Texas — September 30, 2026 — MissedTakes has passed its 250th outlet tracked, reaching 260 publishers, networks and shows whose sports coverage it grades against what actually happened.

An outlet tracked is a publisher, network or show with its own record on the site, built from the takes of the pundits who write or speak for it. That is distinct from a pundit, which the site counts as a person — a network or an unsigned house byline can be tracked without being counted among the 911 approved pundits currently on the record.

The count moved fast: as of September 29 MissedTakes had 167 outlets tracked; a day later that number stands at 260, a jump of 93. That growth sits on top of everything else the site has been building. MissedTakes has now graded 10,588 individual predictions and put 6,222 published takes on the record, drawn from 6,569 articles, podcasts and broadcasts it has read or transcribed — including 725 hours of audio turned into checkable text. Those takes span 13 completed seasons of tracked predictions, across more than thirty separate kinds of call the site grades, from mock-draft slots to season win totals to Coach of the Year picks.

More outlets means more of the field held to the same standard. On the current overall leaderboard, Lance Zierlein sits at the top with a 64.77% accuracy rate across 43 graded calls, and Joe Marino has graded 169 calls at 77.56% accuracy — both reminders that the leaderboard rewards a track record, not a single hot take. Across everything MissedTakes has graded, the field's mean accuracy sits at 61.6%, the baseline every new outlet's pundits will now be measured against.

MissedTakes, by the numbers

"Every outlet we add is another newsroom or show whose predictions get checked the same way as everyone else's," said Ben Garves, founder of The GoodApps Company. "The point isn't to catch anyone out — it's so a reader can tell, with real numbers next to the name, which voices have actually been right."

About MissedTakes

MissedTakes (missedtakes.co) grades sports pundits' predictions against what actually happened. It tracks published takes from articles, podcasts and broadcasts, turns each into a checkable call, scores it under a published methodology once the results are in, and ranks pundits and outlets by accuracy with the sample size always shown beside the score. It is built and paid for by The GoodApps Company in Austin, Texas, carries no advertising, and its scoring methodology is public.
